The MLB season is gaining momentum, and the Braves are no longer second on the oddsboard behind the Dodgers to win the World Series.
Reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. tore his ACL in Atlanta’s 8-1 win at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season.
In the wake of the injury news, the Braves’ World Series odds moved to +650 from +400 overnight.

While Atlanta’s odds have lengthened, a team whose odds have surged over the last week is Kansas City. The Royals’ World Series futures have moved to +2500 from +5000.
After slotting them 10th two weeks ago, FOX Sports MLB analyst Ben Verlander moved the Royals into the seventh spot in his weekly power rankings.
Wrote Verlander: “No team in the American League has as many home wins as the Royals (18), who added three more with a sweep of the A’s. One of the primary reasons is Seth Lugo having the best season of his nine-year career. The 34-year-old struck out 22 batters and surrendered three earned runs and just one walk while winning two starts this past week. His AL-best ERA currently sits at 1.79.”
